RAPID CITY - Sioux Falls' Tate Stinger and Jason Helland each scored a pair of goals to lead the Flyers to a 5-2 win, Sunday, over the Pierre Capitals in the championship game of the SDAHA junior varsity state tournament at the Rushmore Thunderdome in Rapid City.

Alan Spencer got Sioux Falls (12-6-1 overall) on the board, scoring at the 4:19 mark of the second period on an assist from Christopher Soukup. Stinger made it 2-0 Sioux Falls with a powerplay goal later in the second period on another assist from Soukup.

After a Pierre goal, Helland closed the second period scoring with a goal on an assist from Sean Sandelbach at the 11:15 mark.

Stinger and Helland opened the third period with goals, giving the Flyers a comfortable 5-1 lead.

The Flyers' Logan McPadden faced 35 shots in the game, making 33 saves.

Kirsten Wilcox and Alex Roberts each had goals for the Capitals (16-3-0). Pierre goalie Jesse Baker stopped 15-of-17 shots, while teammate Collin Smith stopped 11-of-14 shots.

Third-place game

Aberdeen 6, Brookings 0

RAPID CITY - Aberdeen goalie Skyler Carroll stopped every shot he faced Sunday, leading the Cougars to a 6-0 win over Brookings in the third-place game of the SDAHA junior varsity state tournament at the Rushmore Thunderdome in Rapid City.

Carroll stopped 24 shots in the win.

Aberdeen (12-7-0 overall) got goals from Nick Krokel, Harley Manus, Brady Woehl, Mitchell Perman, Dedrick Wiese and Jamie Flint, who also had a pair of assists.

Brookings (15-3-1) goalie Kolton Mohror stopped 37-of-43 shots in the loss.

Fifth-place game

Huron 2, Pierre Green 1

RAPID CITY - Huron's Robert Pietz scored early in the third period, off an assist from Tyler Ruedebusch, lifting the All Stars to a 2-1 win over the Pierre Capitals Green Sunday in the fifth-place game of the SDAHA junior varsity state tournament at the Rushmore Thunderdome in Rapid City.

The Capitals (7-11-0-2 overall) got on the board first, getting a first-period goal from Jacob Greenhagen at the 3:32 mark. Mick Vandermaten assisted on the goal.

Huron (11-7-0-1) tied the game in the second period, scoring on a Tyler Card goal at the 9 minute mark. Seth Larson was credited with the assist. The goal set-up Pietz' third-period heroics.

Huron goalie Jordan Duxbury stopped 24-of-25 shots on goal. Pierre goalie Chris Johnson stopped 38-of-40 shots in the loss.

Seventh-place game

Mitchell 5, Watertown 0

RAPID CITY - Mitchell goalie Dillon Miles stopped 28 shots Sunday, helping the Marlins to a 5-0 win over Watertown in the seventh-place game at the SDAHA junior varsity state tournament at the Rushmore Thunderdome in Rapid City.

Mitchell's Zach Gebhart finished with a pair of goals and three assists to pace the Marlins' attack. Dylan Thompson had a goal and two assists for Mitchell (7-12-1 overall).

Lakers (5-12-0-2) goalie John Foley had 27 saves in the loss.
