RAPID CITY - Longtime Rapid City Central Cobbler head basketball coach Dave Strain will be honored at a Rapid City Cobbler basketball players reunion from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday in the club level in the new arena at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
There will be a program from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. with stories and memories shared from Strain and former players.
The reunion will be held in conjunction with the Lakota Nation Invitational tournament and is sponsored by both the tournament and former Central basketball players. Former players are also invited to join Strain during the Grand Entry at 4 p.m. Strain will be honored at one of the games following the Grand Entry.
The reunion is also an opportunity for the general public to honor one of South Dakota's all-time great basketball coaches.
All interested are invited to attend and help Dick Shilvock and Pat Jones recall memories of former Cobbler seasons and championships.

Goeringer named NJCAA All-American
Belle Fourche grad Kirsten Goeringer, a freshman at the Rochester (Minn.) Community and Technical College, was named a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American for the 2008 women's soccer season.
Goeringer played 18 games and finished with 16 goals in those 18 games and had 10 assists.
Eagles ranked ninth in final AFCA Top 25 poll
WACO, Texas - The Chadron State football team is ranked ninth in the final American Football Coaches Association Top 25 poll released on Tuesday. The Eagles had an 11-2 record in 2008, including a 10-0 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
This is the third straight year the Eagles have been ranked in the top 10 in the season-ending rankings.
In addition, CSC has been ranked in the AFCA Top 25 for 38 consecutive weeks.
