SPEARFISH - Lead's Danielle Bellet and Rapid City's Brogan Pappel both won their second straight Wells Fargo Junior Tour western region event at Spearfish Canyon Country Club on Monday in the girls and boys 16- to 18-year-old age division.
Pappel edged out his twin brother, Josh, by one stroke as the two of them were tied on each of the last seven holes leading up to No. 17.
On the 17th hole, Brogan came out of the rough to save par and Josh bogeyed the hole, which ended up being the difference on the day.
"It was the driver that got me the most today," Brogan said, "I had a wicked hook, but my irons were better than I've hit all year. My putting was solid too. It was a real battle between my brother and I, and it's a lot of fun playing together."
On the girls side, Bellet shot an 87 edging Rapid City's K.C. Belzer by one stroke.
"I didn't hit the ball my best today, but it's always nice to try win," said Belzer, "So it's just back to practice for the next one."
Autumn Schulz and Sam Musch also won the 12-13 girls and boys divisions for the second straight event as well. Musch shot a 92 to edge P.J. Wetzel by a stroke and Schulz shot a 104.
"I feel really good about winning today because it shows I can get out here and do it, Schulz said. "My drives were really long and straight. My chipping wasn't what I wanted it to be, but I got it back at the end."
Other winners included Jade Burr and J.J. Cooney in the 11-under girls and boys divisions. Burr shot 67 in nine holes to top Nellie Enderby who shot a 71. Cooney shot a 40 which was good enough to beat Rapid City's Brody Remmers by one stroke.
Jordan Trohkimoinem won the girls 14-15 division with an 87, and Micah Partridge, Zachary Fox and Lance Beyer all finished with 84s in the boys division.
This was the second event of six in the Wells Fargo Tour. The top point leaders after those events play in the Wells Fargo Point Championship at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre on Aug. 4.
