SIOUX FALLS - Allen Wood won the men's race as the Black Hills State men placed four in the top six en route to the NAIA Regional Cross Country meet men's title.
Wood took first in a time of 25 minutes, 9.02 seconds and was named the region runner of the year. Teammate Trent Waage finished second in 25:20.48.
Cody Bordewyk (25:29.07) and Mike Nekuda (25:42.65) rounded out the Jacket's top runners in fourth and sixth, respectively.
"Our men had a great meet," Black Hills coach Scott Walkinshaw said. "Our team ran really tough today."
The men, who are ranked third nationally, won the title with 36 points, 38 points better than second place Concordia, Neb. Dickinson State took third with 92.
The region title gives the Jacket men an automatic entrance into the national meet.
Rob Hahn led the South Dakota Mines' men with a 15th place finish in 26:11.14. Kyle Kattke finished 40th (26:41.11) and Colton Reid took 69th (27:42.25). The Hardrockers finished in 11th place overall with 294 points.
The Yellow Jacket women placed two runners in the top 10 and took third place as a team with 106.
Kerry Washburn led the Stinger women with a fifth place finish (18:16.25) followed by Wendy O'Lexey in seventh (18:28.66).
"We were not 100 percent on the women's side," Walkinshaw said. "Alicia Verhulst ran injured. She was not able to have the race she wanted."
Verhulst finished 63rd in 20:27.72.
Brittney Hovedness led the Hardrocker women with a 27th place finish in 19:39.01. Teammate Kendra Cook followed three places behind with a time of 19:42.61. The Mines' team finished with 321 points for 13th place.
Olivia Johnson of Northwestern, Iowa, won the women's race in 17:51.51.
Concordia, Neb., won the women's title with 62 points and Northwestern finished runner-up with 88.
The Jacket women await word on whether or not they will receive an at-large bid to compete at the national meet.
