The Rapid City Rush are planning to add several new items, to their inventory of fan gear for the 2009-2010 Central Hockey League season, but, for now at least, the items won't be for sale in local stores.
Prior to the start of last year's inaugural season, Rush souvenirs, items and clothing had been sold at the Rapid City Scheels store, as well as online and at the team offices at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
But once the civic center's new ice arena opened in late November, Rush items were available only at the civic center and online, according to Rush sales and marketing director Darcy Zansdstra.
"Right now, those are the only options we have set in stone," Zandstra said. "We have had some discussions with Scheels, but nothing has been decided."
Zandstra said the 2009-2010 merchandise will be here by the end of September.
"Just in time for the start of the season," she said.
Added to the inventory is a new red jersey design as well as a new black jersey design in addition to the traditional "home" white sweater.
"Our white jerseys will stay pretty much the same. Most teams do have three jerseys that they can rotate around. The first year we didn't, but this year (head coach) Joe (Ferras) decided he wanted that third jersey."
Highlights of novelty and clothing coming in include sweatshirts, T-shirts, a dozen new styles of hats and visors, loungewear, mini-hockey sticks, wall clocks, parking-zone signs, and license plate frames and "new high-quality cowbells," Zandstra said.
"We'll have some quite obnoxious cowbells for this season," she said.
