Scott Colford captured the annual Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon on Sunday with nearly a five-minute edge in the 26.2 mile race.

Colford finished in a time of 2 hours, 47 minutes and 49 seconds, well ahead of second-place finisher Drew Pope, who ran a time of 2:51:36.

The race, which also featured runners in the half marathon and marathon relay, attracted nearly 2,000 runners (1,926). Breaking down the runners, there were 1,342 females competing and 584 males. Averaging in the half marathon times, the average time was 2:27.30.

Also in the marathon, Alexander Sutphen finished third overall in 2:57.54, followed by Chris Brown at 2:58:55 and Philip Schwartz in 3:01:12.

Taylor Peterson was the top female finisher in the marathon in a time of 3:13.50, well ahead of second-place finisher Kari Brown in 3:27:07. Traci Vander Molen was third in 3:31:47, followed by Keena Byrd-Moro in 3:36:07 and Anna Atkinson in 3:36:16.

In the half marathon, Tyler Nack was the overall winner in 1:11:12, two minutes ahead of Ethan Tabbert in 1:13:33. Nic Penning placed third in 1:13:38, with Matthew Horan taking fourth in 1:13:54 and Dylan Slaba fifth in 1:14:11.

Shannon Bueker was the top female finisher in the half marathon in a time of 1:20:37. Madeline Rebol placed second in 1:24:58, followed by Alysha Davis in third at 1:25:11. Jen Reiter placed fourth in 1:27:44 and Robyn Rosechandler was fifth in 1:28:16.

In the marathon relay, the all male team of Tri-State Tire Factory finished first in a time of 3:02:48, followed by the male team of Lakota Striders in 3:03:30. Tofurkey placed third overall in a time of 3:27:56 and was the top co-ed team.

    Congratulations to all of the finishers, this was my 7th time running the race and I look forward to it every year. A shout out to Sioux Falls Roosevelt XC as 4 of the top 5 finishers and the winner were all alumni of the program. Now you know why they one back to back state titles, they were good!
