The Rapid City Rush announced Friday that it has signed defenseman Brandon Blair.
Blair was previously suiting up for the SPHL's Pensacola Ice Flyers and also spent time with the Norkfolk Admirals of the ECHL.
The 6-foot 2-inch 245 pound Blair said he was grateful for the opportunity to play in the ECHL.
"I've heard nothing but great things about the Rush organization for the staff, to the community and fans. It's a first class organization and I'm looking forward to the opportunity," Blair said in a release. "I like to bring a physical game in front of the net, get hard shots off from the point if I have the chance, contribute where I can offensively and play a full 60 minutes.
"I'm hoping to play for a championship; that's the goal no matter what league you play in or what team you play for, and I hope to contribute to an overall effort for a winning season."
Blair played 39 games in Pensacola where he registered two goals and four assists for six points. He registered 134 penalty minutes. He skated with Norfolk for the final seven games of the season where had 19 PIM.
"I'm very excited to have Brandon on board for the upcoming season," Rush coach Daniel Tetrault said. "He's going to add a ton of toughness and size to our team. He's going to create time and space for our skilled guys and will be a valuable leader off the ice.
"With the presence of Anthony Collins and now Blair, we're definitely not going to be pushed around."
The Rush begins its season Oct. 13 when it hosts the Allen Americans at 7:05 p.m.
