The Spearfish girls' basketball team held Custer to just one point in the third period and ran past the Wildcats 58-46 Thursday night in Custer.

The Spartans had the slight edge through the first half, leading 36-31, and earned some breathing room with the 15-1 edge in the third.

Custer battled back some and outscored the Spartans 14-7 in the fourth, but could not catch Spearfish.

Alexsis Kemp led all scorers for Spearfish with 20 points, including 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Brook Heairet added eight points for the Spartans.

Tori Glazier led Custer with 17 points.

Spearfish, 7-9 and winners of seven of its last 11 games, is at Belle Fourche Tuesday. Custer, 10-7, is at Belle Fourche tonight.

PINE RIDGE 91, LITTLE WOUND 61: The Lady Thorpes had no trouble in stopping the Lady Mustangs Thursday night.
