The Black Hills State University women's basketball team is going dancing.
The Yellow Jackets received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament as a No. 5 seed in the South Central Region. They will face No. 4 seed Angelo State in Lubbock, Texas Friday.
BHSU finished the regular season 24-7 after a loss in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference final to Colorado State-Pueblo, who received a No. 3 seed in the region.
The winner of the Yellow Jackets-Angelo State game will face the winner of the No. 1 seed Lubbock Christian vs. No. 8 seed Tarleton State.
Angelo State is 22-6 on the season and based in Angelo, Texas. The Rams are in the Lone Star Conference and this is the third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
This is the second time BHSU has made the tournament as an NCAA team. The last time was in 2016 when it went 21-8 and beat CSU-Pueblo in the first round game but lost to West Texas A&M in the next round.
BHSU softball earns first two wins of season
The Black Hills State University softball team won its first two games of the season by sweeping a doubleheader on the road against Colorado State-Pueblo.
The Yellow Jackets took game one 13-5 in six innings and won game two 8-2.
The win improves BHSU to 2-10 on the season and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. It takes on Colorado Christian on the road this weekend.
