Meade County, in the recent census, was calculated as having grown by 1,181, however, the department of equalization and planning say they have grown by 4,486. The department plans, therefore, to send a letter and presentation in to the U.S. Census Bureau to dispute their results.

Sturgis City Manager Daniel Ainslie presented the findings of a city wide survey conducted to determine what it is the citizens of Sturgis are looking for in the community. According to the findings, Ainslie said "the community is not too decisive sometimes."

Sturgis City Manager Daniel Ainslie proposed giving Mayor Mark Carstensen a $3,000 stipend for the six months that he performed the city manager duties when there was no city manager. The stipend would pay $500 a month for the six months, though would not go beyond those six months.

The Sturgis Center for the Arts is beginning a new program entitled Moms and Tots Music, specifically for children ages 3 to 6 years old. The program takes place on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and lasts 45 minutes. It is $8 per session, or three sessions for $20.
