kungradulatons tu the yung ladi from Newell for hur succes in the sppeling bee. Seriously, it is a great accomplishment and I wish her well in future competitions. I do not believe most schools place as much emphasis on spelling as they did in the past, but it is crucial for effective writing and hopefully as, wants2know, has suggested, the schedule can be altered to accomidate more competitors.

When I visit with friends who worked for my Dad over the past 40 years, they all remember him whistling while he worked. It was never a complete song but was usually one line that was repeated over and over and over and over and....They also remind me of how honest Dad was and how blessed I am to have that heritage. Men like Mr Brandt, his comrades, and your parents, provide a priceless heritage and I enjoyed the chance to read about them.

"Discipline is doing what you don't want to do when you don't want to do it." great quote and as 196th has pointed out it will be interesting to see if Thune and Noem have the courage to stand up to the farm subsidy powers when a whole lot of money and prestige is on the line.

Myname- Amen, you are exactly right. rockman- If he were fearful of losing then he wouldn't be a wrestler in the first place. He took the difficult, not the easy way out.
I don't disrespect the two young ladies. For them to qualify for the Iowa state tournament indicates that they are dedicated and have worked and trained incredibly hard. If there were a girls division I suspect that other young women who also love the competition but are reluctant to wrestle men, would enter the sport of wrestling as well.
A great sport with great athletes. The comments of the young competitors and their parents show a lot of class on both sides. Hopefully something good will come of it.

Like Rooks past articles, this one was excellent. I also appreciated the insight shared by those who commented.

First things first...Thomas Sowell's article is excellent. Second things second...Archie Jones lists 46 "czars" that existed during the Bush years. What he fails to mention is that the so called czars such as Tom Ridge, John Negroponte, Clarke and others were first nominated for their position before the Senate where they were questioned, and then confirmed, and then granted the power to fill their responsibilities. Obama's czars on the other hand have to often been granted power over the people without first being approved and held accountable by the people's representatives in the Senate. There is a huge difference. Obama's czar's have been granted power over the people instead of the people being assured of power over the czar's. As "Obamanation" wisely and correctly pointed out, the progressives have difficulty comparing apples and oranges

Thomas Sowell's article was not a debate about whether Limbaugh is pleasant or annoying. Nor was it a debate about whether liberals or conservatives can own sports teams. It was however a glimpse at the way society responds to lies and false attacks. In this case lies about Limbaugh were created and repeated by media rivals. When the lies were exposed, those responsible as well as their supporters were quick to excuse their actions. Apparently we don't mind liars providing us information so long as they are telling us what we want to hear. PS Sasquatch- I did indeed misquote you and for that I appologize.

Thomas Sowell says we should reject lies which have been targeted at a victim even if we personally do not like or agree with the victim of those lies. Fabricated quotes and stories should be unacceptable regardless of political or personal views.
Sasquatch and Jones however seem to believe that making up "quotes" in order to harm an individual is OK if the individual harmed is Limbaugh. Interesting.
