July 6 and 12, 2019 L21119339 SOUTH DAKOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, RAPID CITY AREA MPO, CITY OF RAPID CITY, AND PENNINGTON COUNTY NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING / OPEN HOUSE FOR THE US16 CORRIDOR STUDY Dates: Tuesday, July 23, 2019 Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM Location: Black Hills Energy 7001 Mt Rushmore Road Rapid City, SD 57702 Event Center (located in lobby) Enter from either side of the building The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) in conjunction with the Rapid City Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (RCAMPO), City of Rapid City, and Pennington County, will hold an informal, open house style public meeting to discuss and receive public input on the upcoming US16 Corridor Study. An introductory presentation will be given at 5:40 p.m. The study area for this project includes US16 from Cathedral Drive/Fairmont Boulevard to the Keystone Wye. There are several goals for this study, including: • Develop a long-range plan for the US16 corridor. • Develop an access management plan for the US16 corridor. • Based on alternatives carried forward for further consideration from previous studies, recommend a layout at the following intersections for design: o US16 & US16B/Catron Boulevard o US16 & Neck Yoke Road • Review Rockerville area access. • Create environmental documents for the US16 intersections with US16B/Catron Boulevard and Neck Yoke Road. Objectives of this public meeting include: • Present an overview of the study, timelines, and study expectations. • Gather public feedback regarding current issues and needs for improvement within the study area. Input from this meeting will aid in the upcoming development, evaluation, and refinement of concepts that will be presented at additional public meetings later in the study. Notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that this open house is being held in a physically accessible place.
