Startup Weekend Black Hills will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, with business pitches beginning at 8 p.m. at Evergreen Media, 329 Main Street. Local businesses, nonprofits, startups, and SD Mines students will come together for the weekend to pitch ideas, form teams, create and validate a business plan, and pitch their newly formed startups to a panel of local entrepreneurs and investors. On Saturday afternoon at Evergreen Media from 1-4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., mentors who are local entrepreneurs in fields ranging from engineering to advertising will advise teams one-on-one, asking the right questions, facilitating them through difficult decisions, offering resources and tools and helping them build the skills needed to compete.
