With the seasons rapidly winding down, the Chadron High School basketball teams will be at home on Friday night to meet Rapid City Christian and visit Valentine for a double-header Saturday.
After playing Colorado Christian in a double-header in the Chicoine Center Tuesday night after this week’s Record went to the press, the Chadron State basketball teams will be at home again Thursday night meet the Western Colorado Mountaineers. The women’s game at 5:30 will tip off the action.
The Chadron High girls wrestling team will compete at their district meet, beginning this Friday at Bridgeport. Both the girls and boys teams hit the mats this past week with a triangular at Custer with the host and Douglas, and an Invitational at Mitchell.
"The basketball gods have taken away from us so far this year," Chadron State coach Shane Paben said. "It's nice that we got one back tonight."

Both Chadron High basketball teams added to their victory totals by lopsided margins over Hemingford on Tuesday, Jan. 10 in Chadron’s Middle School Gym. The girls’ score was 57-14 and the boys’ tally was 69-22.

The importance of making free throws showed up vividly on Tuesday, Jan. 3 when the Hot Springs Bison outlasted the Chadron Cardinals in a boys’ basketball game in Hot Springs. The hosts won 65-60 on overtime.
Saturday’s matinee at Chadron’s Middle School Gym was a fun-filled event for both the hometown players and their fans. Lots of popcorn should have been sold. The Cardinals piled up the points, everybody got to play and there was some outstanding shooting, particularly from downtown.
