Chadron Cardinal senior Dana Dunbar has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). She is the first recruit to sign for DMACC for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

A DMACC news release quotes Dunbar, “I wanted to go to a program that would push and challenge me. It makes it easier going nine hours away from home knowing that I’m going to a great place.”

Dunbar went on to praise the DMACC coaching staff, and stated “My dream has always been to play Division I softball and playing at DMACC gives me that opportunity.”

The Cardinal senior was the Cardinals’ primary pitcher, had a .419 batting average, and hit eight home runs this past season. She was named to the first team of the All-Western Conference for all four years of her high-school softball career and was also a Class C All-State honorable mention for four years.

DMACC softball has made five National Junior College Athletic Association Division II World Series appearances in the last six years and was ranked among the nation’s top 10 teams each of those years. In 2017, the Bears finished 41-7 and were fifth in the final D II rankings.
