The Bison golfers competed in two meets last week. The first was the Sturgis Golf Meet held on the Boulder Canyon Golf Course on last Tuesday.

Schools entered included: Sturgis, Rapid City Central, Rapid City Stevens, Spearfish, Douglas, Lead/Deadwood, Hot Springs and Red Cloud.

Hot Springs took the team title with a 9 hole 4 person score of 180, 2nd L/D-210 and 3rd Spearfish-213.

Douglas’s Molly Schwartz won the medalist honors with a 9 hole score of 40, 2nd-Spearfish’s Lyric Williams-41, 3rd-HS’s Aryona Watts-42, 4th-Sturgis’s Chelsea Powles-44 and 5th-HS’s Sydney Olstad-45.

Hot Springs was led by Aryona Watts-42, Sydney Olstad-45, Madilyn Palo-46, Malory Olstad-47, Jessi Schroeder-50 and Adrianna Krush-53.

Hot Springs didn’t fair as well at the Black Hills Conference golf meet held in Douglas on the Prairie Ridge Golf Course on Hot Springs. Head coach Dave Merrill said, "We, as coaches and players, have work to do better before the Region 4 Championship gets here next Thursday in Belle Fourche."

Belle Fourche took the Black Hills Conference Team crown with a four person 18 hole score of 377, 2nd Hot Springs-396, 3rd-Saint Thomas More-399, 4th-Spearfish-416 and 5th-Lead/Deadwood-426.

The Black Hills Conference medalist honors went to Belle’s Jade Burr with a 18 hole score of 76, 2nd-STM’s Alex Kandolin-77, 3rd-Douglas’s Molly Schwartz-79, 4th-Sturgis’s Chelsea Powles-85 and 5th- BF’s Payson Birkeland-87.

Hot Springs was led by Aryona Watts-89(6th), Madilyn Palo-96(12th), Malory Olstad-103, Jessi Schroeder-108 and Sydney Olstad-109.

Hot Springs JV was led by Ciara Stewart-63, Abby Kerr-63, Ava Krush-68, Allyson Kattke-68 and Lyndsay Reetz-72. These golfers played 9 holes.

Hot Springs's next golf meet was Tuesday at the Belle Fourche Invite, results will be in the next issue of the Star. The Bison will then compete in Belle Fourche at the regional meet, Thursday May 24.
