SPEARFISH- The Hot Springs Bison football team improved their record five wins and one loss after last Friday's shutout, 16-0, over the Spearfish Spartans.
The Bison scored two touchdowns in the contest. Both were passes from quarterback Morgan Harkless to receiver Matt Norton, first in the first quarter and again in the third. Brand Baker recorded a safety in the first quarter.
Hot Springs ran the football well, with 161 yards of their total 203 yards of offense coming on the ground.
Even with the victory, Head Coach Ben Kramer saw room for improvements, "We left too many points on the field Friday night. We all need to get better, work harder and be more disciplined."
The Bison were 3 for 12 on third down conversions and committed seven penalties for 85 yards.
Hot Springs' next opponent is St. Thomas More this Friday in Hot Springs at 6:00 p.m. The Cavaliers have an overall record of three wins and three losses on the season. Their wins included: Spearfish, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte and Douglas (SD). Their losses were courtesy of Tea, West Central and Sturgis Brown.
