DELL RAPIDS-The Bison Golf Team competed in the Class A South Dakota State Golf Tournament at the Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids on October 1 and 2.

35 schools were represented with 107 athletes competing.

The State Class A Championship went to Tea Area with a four person 36 hole score of 686, second was Sisseton-699 and third was Madison-700. Hot Springs finished 15th with a score of 877.

The meet medalist honors went to Tea Area’s Brock Murphy with a two day 36 hole score of 152, second was Sisseton’s Nate Nielsen-154 and third was Aberdeen Roncalli’s Lucas Schaefbauer-156.

Hot Springs was led by Jacob Harris-186(44th), followed by Zane Cope-218(88th), Mason VanBibber-221(91st), Modes(Andrew) Kerr-252(103rd) and Hayden VanBibber-274(106th).

The Bison fielded a young team this year. Both Cope and Mason Vanbibber are juniors Hayden VanBibber is a sophomore, Harris is a freshman and Kerr is in seventh grade.

"We have a young team and I know they will only get better and their goal is to return to the state meet next year," commented Head Coach Dave Merrill. Merrill added that he was confident in next year's state prospects.
