Honor Jacobson, 78, of Gardner, Kans, passed away peacefully Jan. 2, 2018, at the Olathe Medical Center Hospice House in Olathe, Kans., with family by her side.
Honor was born May 14, 1939, in Valentine, Neb., to Tom and Elizabeth (Borman) Ripke. She moved to Hot Springs at a young age and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1957. Honor attended college at St. Mary’s University in Minnesota and earned her college degree from the University of Colorado. After graduating, she taught in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. She then moved back to Hot Springs, where she worked as the librarian. She then began her career in the insurance industry, where she owned the Southard Insurance agency in Hot Springs. She finished her career as high school secretary starting in 1989 until retiring in 2004.
In 2005, Honor moved to Gardner, Kans., to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She remained active in her community, where she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Honor is survived by her daughter, Tisha (Darren) Nichols; two grandchildren, Blake and Taylor of Gardner, Kans.; brother Tom (Charlene) Ripke of Boise, Idaho; two nephews Greg Ripke, Portland, Ore. and Joe Ripke, Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Honor’s request, no formal service will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hospice House in Olathe, Kans.
