Dave Scott Memorial Fun Run/Walk held at Angostura

HOT SPRINGS – A total of 70 participants took part in this past weekend’s Dave Scott Memorial Fun Run/Walk at Angostura Recreation Area, where three separate competitions were held including a 1 mile, 5K and 10K.

Scott was a fixture at Hot Springs High School from 1971 until his death from cancer in December 2005. During his 33-plus years at HSHS, he served as head coach of wrestling, cross country and track, amassing a combined 14 Black Hills Conference championships, 23 region titles and five state championships.

He is also one of seven new inductees into the Hot Springs Bison Athletics Hall of Fame who will be honored during a banquet and ceremony in Hot Springs on Oct. 8, which is homecoming weekend.

All proceeds from the event benefit Hot Springs Bison student-athletes through the Hot Springs Bison Booster Club.

Medals were awarded to the top-three in each race in both men’s and women’s divisions. Following are those results:

MENS – 1st, Trace DeBoer, 6:49; 2nd, Ryder Drobny, 6:56; 3rd, Carter Scott, 11:00.
