Bridger Kraye

Rapid City Central’s Bridger Kraye grapples with Hot Springs’ Garrett Heil earlier this season at the Rapid City Invite. Heil was one of six Bison wrestlers to place at the Mid-Dakota Monster this weekend.

Six Bison wrestlers placed at last week’s Mid-Dakota Monster in Presho, adding to a combined 118 team points, good enough for eighth overall in a tough field of 25 schools.

The Winner Warriors took first place honors with 255 points bolstered by first place individual finishes by Kaden Keiser at 106, Atlas Willuweit at 120, Wyatt Turnquist at 126, and Sam Kruger at 145.

Of the eight placing Bison, Kody Hagen and Garrett Heil were the highest individual finishers. Both wrestlers placed third, Hagen at 145 , and Heil at 182.

Caleb Maciejewski placed fifth at 220 with a pin of Todd County’s Waylon Marshall; likewise TeeJay Atwood pinned Spearfish’s Elijah Zuniga to take fifth at 170.

Marcus Harkless and Alex Phelps were the other two Hot Springs wrestlers to place. Both placed eight, Harkless at 195 and Phelps at 138.

As a team, the Bison had 19 total pins in 39:22, led by Maciejewski who had four pins in 4:14.

McCook Central-Montrose’s Jacob Cheeseman received the most pins award. His five pins were matched by Winner’s Elijah Blare, but Cheeseman’s came in over three fewer minutes. Eight wrestlers joined Maciejewski with four pins.

The Warriors Kruger was named Most Outstanding Wrestler.

This week the wrestlers will travel to the Hill City Quad on Thursday, then to Phillip on Friday and Saturday for the Phillip Invitational.
