The 2018-19 inaugural concert for the Bach Society of the Black Hills will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Batchelder’s Plummer Piano and Organ Company, 2821 Plant Drive in Rapid City.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The performers for the all-piano concert will be Joseph O’Rourhe, a Black Hills State University graduate music student and teacher, and three of his students: Alayna Ashworth, 13; and sisters Rachel Chen, 9, and Jessica Chen, 6.
The performances will include the following works by Bach: Sinfonia No. 1 in C Major, Sinfonia No. 3 in D Major, Sinfonia No. 7 in E Minor, Sinfonia from Partita No. 2 in C Minor, and Fugue in Ab Major WTC bk. 2; and Mozart’s Sonata in C minor mov. 1.
The Bach Society, which formerly was known as the Bach Society of South Dakota, has scheduled performances throughout the Black Hills region, including in Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wyoming.
