Discover the smooth taste of scotch

Wobbly Bobby British Pub invites connoserirs of fine spirits -- or novices -- to its Scotch tasting event Oct. 19.

The event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. will introduce participants to the history and varieties of Scotch whisky (there are five:

single malt, single grain blended malt , blended grain and blended Scotch whisky.

In order for the liquor to be called “Scotch” it must be distilled in Scotland from grains, yeast and water and aged a minimum of three years in oak casks.

Participants in the Scotch tasting event will try seven of the world’s best rated scotches available at Wobbly Bobby British Pub, 510 Main St., Rapid City.

Cost is $30 per person. Purchase tickets at Advance reservations required. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Beermagedon is coming

The Black Hills Blues Society presents Hillbilly Beermagedon from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14 at Hay Camp Brewing.

Two bands, John Clifton Blues Band and River Liffey Boys perform in the Ursa Major event space. VIP tickets include sectioned seating. General admission tickets are for “movers and shakers” (those who don’t want to sit).

Mountain West BeerFest tickets on sale

And on Nov. 11, you can get your fill of craft brews when Rapid City holds is first-ever Mountain West BeerFest, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

More than 200 craft beers from 50 local, regional and national breweries will be on tap.
