Bring your Christmas cheer to Firehouse Wine Cellars on Saturday as it hosts Grinch-Mas, a Who-liday party.
The event, based on Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," is the third holiday-themed party from Firehouse Wine Cellars, after a Christmas Around the World event in 2014 and their "A Christmas Story" event in 2015.
"We'll have the Wine Cellar heavily decorated with references to the movie and the book and incorporate that into our food stations," said Michelle Pawelski, general manager. "We really go all-out when we're decorating, and we'll have a Grinch Cave, some fake snow, a little bit of Whoville."
Pawelski said they hoped their theme would inspire attendees to get in the holiday spirit.
"We also encourage people to dress up in costumes," Pawelski said. "Or in ugly Christmas sweaters."
Each station will have a food, wine and beer pairing, with dishes such as "shaved roast beast" and potato bacon hash. There will also be a wood Grinch cutout for visitors to put their face through for photos, and an interactive station is planned.
"Last year we had a shooting range inspired by 'A Christmas Story,'" Pawelski said. "This year we have a snowball competition, where you have to knock presents over with fake snowballs."
Pawelski said she felt people would most enjoy the uniqueness of the event, which goes beyond a traditional holiday party.
"It's really different," Pawelski said. "A lot of people do holiday wine and food pairings, but we try to get in the holiday spirit and get interactive, and I think people enjoy dressing up for it."
This event is for ages 21 and over. For more information or to purchase tickets for Grinch-Mas, visit firehousewinecellars.com/product/A-Grinch-mas-Party or call 716-9463.
