BELLE FOURCHE - Elaine Joyce Alberts, 85, of Belle Fourche died Oct. 17, 2017, at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center.
She was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Belle Fourche. Her parents were Kelsey and Frances Highsaw. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1950. She worked for Dr. Dorland in Belle Fourche for 18 years and then at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center in 1976 in medical records.
Joyce’s life centered around loving and taking care of her son, Tom and her mom, “Granny." She was a kind and caring person who treated friends like family and always appreciated time spent with them. Joyce also loved her “fur babies” otherwise known as her cats and a dog "Sugar." In her retirement years, she enjoyed walking with friends to go have coffee at Lynn’s bakery.
Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star and an active member of the United Methodist Church where she enjoyed being a member of their choir.
She is survived by her grandson, Brad Stokes and family of Colorado; several cousins in Colorado and Illinois; extended family, Don and Marilyn Anderson; Jesse, Paula, Alexa, Noah, and Bree Pierce, Troy, Christina, and Brayden Anderson; special friends, Lorraine Freeman and Joyce Voyles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelsey and Frances and her son, Tom Alberts in 1976.
A Ceremonial Tribute will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28 at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche with the Rev. Gail Arnold officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.
The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church.
