Chadron's Trevor Berry

Cardinals' Trevor Berry shoots toward the green earlier this season in Chadron. The sophomore missed the State qualifying mark by just two strokes, but will have two more chances at reaching his goal of making the State tournament.

Monday was a tough day for Chadron’s golfers who travelled to Ogallala for the B4 District golf meet at West Winds Golf Course.

79 was the mark the golfers needed to hit to get themselves into the top ten and qualify for the State meet to be held next weekend at Quail Run Golf Course, in Columbus.

Consistently Chadron’s best golfer this season, Trevor Berry was just two strokes over the qualifying mark, finishing his day with a round of 81. His best result this season, a 77 shot in Scottsbluff at the Western Conference Tournament, would have landed him in the middle of the pack of Monday’s top ten individual qualifiers.

Just a sophomore, this won’t be Berry’s last chance to see his goal of making State fulfilled.

Sidney’s Connor Dormann took top honors at the meet with a round of 75, one stroke better than second-place finisher Dillon Geiser of Cozad.

Sidney led the meet in team scoring with a final score of 320, Scottsbluff placed second with a score of 321, and Adams Central took third with 322. All three qualified for State as a group.

Chadron came away with a team score of 401. Blake Olsen had a 98 on the day, Luke Tiensvold shot 110, Jay Milburn 112, and Sam Rischling 131.
