DEADWOOD | With a swig of his Bud Light, Jeff Farden of Wright, Wyo., watched the Kool Deadwood Nites revelers pass his blue-and-rusted 1959 Dodge D300 rat rod wrecker parked outside the Days of 76 Museum. Some pointed and gawked, while others posed to take pictures in front of the vehicle that resembles a drug-addled caricature of Mater from Disney's "Cars."
Farden opened the door of his wrecker and pointed to the burlap covering the bench seats. "Fifteen-dollar interior — best interior in the world," Farden said with a laugh, followed by another swig.
Now in its 19th year, Kool Deadwood Nites brought in every shade of classic car from across the Great Plains. Larry Bennett, chairman of the car committee, said more than 500 classic cars were in Deadwood for this year's celebration. The car show will conclude Sunday with a parade at 9 a.m. and an award ceremony at 11 a.m.
