DEADWOOD | Deadwood's Days of '76 Complex is chock-full of snow and ready to greet and challenge riders for the 4th Annual Deadwood Snocross Showdown.
The annual Snocross races, set for Jan. 22-23, will include pros competing on a technical course at the Days of '76 Rodeo Grounds in Deadwood.
"The Deadwood Snocross races have become a can't-miss event for the region. It's a perfect way to break up the winter blues by getting out to enjoy a great Deadwood event. With the exciting, close-up racing set in the historic Days of '76 complex, it's something you can't get anywhere else," said Lee Harstad, director of the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce.
In its fourth year, the Deadwood Snocross Showdown has become one of the most popular venues on the eight-city AMSOIL Championship Snocross Tour. In 2014, the International Series of Champions (ISOC), which stages the AMSOIL series, named the Deadwood Snocross its event of the year.
The professional snowmobile racers will compete in the races, which will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network. The course features tight turns, soaring jumps and high speeds. Many pros will race in Deadwood before heading west to the XGames.
Registered rallygoers will receive a discount on tickets to the races and lodging. The Deadwood Snowmobile Rally is held in conjunction with the annual races. Crews have been storing snow since winter set in, and Snocross personnel are on site now making additional snow and preparing the track.
