McPherson will be in Sturgis for the Sturgis Brown High School Homecoming Parade at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28.
STURGIS | Paige McPherson is making a visit to her hometown at the end of September.
Lisa Weyer, executive director of the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce, confirmed that McPherson, winner of the bronze medal in the women's 67-kilogram division of the taekwondo at this year's London Olympic games, would be in Sturgis for the Sturgis Brown High School Homecoming Parade at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28.
There will be a public reception for McPherson from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Sturgis Community Center.
"We will have a question and answer session followed by a reception with refreshments, Weyer said.
Her aunt, Marcia Johnston, said Paige would be riding in a Mustang convertible in the parade which is owned by the Johnstons.
Weyer said it will be interesting to hear Paige's first-hand experiences.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most people," she said.
Weyer said it will be special to have someone from Sturgis, who competed in the Olympics, in town to talk about it.
"The whole community should be so proud of her," she said.
The Sunday event is sponsored jointly by the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce and the city of Sturgis.
