Belle Fourche extended its unbeaten record to 17-0, defeating Sturgis Brown 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18 in a varsity volleyball match Oct. 3 in Sturgis.
"Sturgis did a nice job," said Belle Fourche coach Loree Schlichtemeier. "They played a fantastic match.
"We have to stay aggressive and take care of unforced errors on our side of the court."
Payson Pirkeland was a perfect 17-of-17 serving with three aces and 13 set assists for the Lady Broncs. Mandee Williamson converted 16-of-16 serves with three aces, six attack kills and three blocks. Rylee Young was 13-of-16 serving with two aces, eight kills and 11 digs.
Fallon Budmayr chipped in 19 set assists and theee blocks. Sierra Ward collected 25 kills and 12 digs. Tristan Garman claimed two blocks. Emma Singer had 19 digs.
For the Scoopers, Brittany Delzer went 16-of-16 at the service line and 26 set assists. Donni Bruch was 16-of-17 serving with a pair of aces.
Sarah Janz led the attacking with 12 kills. Alexa Delbridge added nine kills and 21 digs. Ashlyn Simons and Janz provided six and three blocks, respectively. Cassidy Jorensen added 21 digs.
"We came out with a lot of fire," said SBHS coach Traci Fransen. "I was proud of the way the girls won the second set.
"We dropped in energy in the third and fourth sets. The girls never gave up and kept fighting until the end."
Sturgis Brown, 8-11 overall, hosts Rapid City Central Tuesday. Belle Fourche visits Lead-Deadwood in a Black Hills Conference match Thursday.
