An Ellsworth man is set to go on trial for murder in the death of his infant son in 2016.
Airman 1st Class David MacDonald was formally read his charge in military court Dec. 19 and is scheduled for a court-martial in June, according to Ellsworth Air Force Base’s public affairs office. He is facing one charge and specification of murder under the military law.
MacDonald’s son died in November 2016, and the airman has been assigned to the 28th Bomb Wing since August last year, the office has said. A motions hearing is scheduled for March. No other information on the case was immediately available.
“The 28th BW, and the Air Force in general, takes allegations of this nature seriously and fully pursues appropriate actions. However, military members under investigation, for any offense, are presumed innocent until proven guilty,” the base has said.
