An Ellsworth sergeant has been convicted of assault and penalized with a demotion to the Air Force’s lowest rank.
Staff Sgt. J. Hagemann was found guilty of assault consummated by a battery on Sept. 8 following a special court-martial on Ellsworth Air Force Base, according to a report on the Judge Advocate General’s Corps website.
The case involved an “offensive (unwanted) touching of a nonsexual nature that occurred in the Ellsworth Air Force Base medical clinic during duty hours,” said Tech. Sgt. Michael Longoria of Ellsworth’s Public Affairs department.
The victim, an employee subordinate to Hagemann, suffered no physical injuries, Longoria said in response to questions. Hagemann was sentenced to a four-rank reduction to airman basic, the lowest enlisted position in the Air Force.
