Trevor Lone Hill - mug shot

Lone Hill

A Box Elder man who authorities say worked with local youth groups pleaded not guilty Thursday to additional child sexual offense charges.

Trevor Lone Hill, 28, was formally charged at the Pennington County Courthouse with three counts of first-degree rape and three counts of sexual contact with a child younger than 16.

The crimes were allegedly committed against one child sometime between July 2010 and November 2014, when the victim would have been 4 to 9 years old, according to Lone Hill’s charging document. It’s unclear if the child was a boy or girl.

Lone Hill pleaded not guilty to the charges in front of 7th Circuit Presiding Judge Craig Pfeifle, just as he did during his January arraignment on one count of child sexual contact. He has been represented by defense attorney Travis Jones.

His initial Pennington County charge involved a different child, court documents show. That victim would have been 9 to 12 years old when the offense allegedly occurred sometime between January 2014 and March 2017.

Lone Hill has volunteered at youth organizations in Pennington County, including churches, schools and sports programs, said state Assistant Attorney General Scott Roetzel, who is prosecuting the cases.

The sheriff’s office earlier said it conducted an investigation into Lone Hill — together with the Meade County Sheriff’s Office and Rapid City Police Department — following “alleged offenses involving multiple jurisdictions.”

First-degree rape is punishable by 15 years to life in prison; sexual contact with a child younger than 16, 10 to 15 years in prison.

The police reports on both cases are sealed from public view because they involve underage victims, court records show.

Lone Hill is detained at the county courthouse on a combined $125,000 bond on both cases. His next hearing has been set for April 5.
