A former Ellsworth airman was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for receiving and possessing child pornography over a seven-year period, according to court records.

Colby Haggerty, 26, was convicted at a Rapid City federal court trial in July. Authorities said that between 2009 and 2014, while Haggerty was living on Ellsworth Air Force Base, he downloaded at least 1,000 pornographic images of children onto his dorm computer. And in 2015, in Rapid City, investigators found more images on his cellphone. Haggerty denied the pictures belonged to him.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Jeffrey Viken sentenced Haggerty to five years in prison on each of his two charges of receiving child porn. Haggerty was also given five years for possessing child porn, to be served at the same time as his receipt sentences. He had been in the Air Force till 2015.
