Friday is the deadline for placing winter apparel on the president statues in downtown Rapid City.

In November 2015, the city council approved a resolution proposed by Mayor Steve Allender that established a four-month window from Nov. 15 to March 15 when churches, community groups and individuals could place gloves, scarves, ear muffs and stocking caps on the statues for those in need.

After Friday, the city said in a press release, it will remove any items placed on the president statues.
