Robert Herrmann won a close race Tuesday for a spot on the Spearfish City Council. He received 69 votes, compared to 62 for Ken Schallenkamp and 51 for Tom Berry.
The victory will place Herrmann on the council through 2021. The special election became necessary after the July death of longtime Spearfish resident George Martin, who was elected in 2018.
