October 2018 scenes from the U.S. Forest Service's Charles E. Bessey Tree Nursery in Nebraska, where seeds are extracted from Black Hills pine cones and grown into seedlings to be planted in the area burned by the 2000 Jasper Fire in South Dakota. Black Hills seedlings are just one of many varieties of trees grown at the nursery, which serves numerous state conservation agencies and all of the national forests in the Rocky Mountain region.
