A St. Francis man has pleaded guilty to assaulting an infant last fall.

Jerrold Pretty Voice Crane, 26, pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with assault resulting in serious bodily injury in connection with an Oct. 9 incident involving a Todd County infant.

The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Pretty Voice Crane was detained pending sentencing Sept. 19.

In other federal court news:

n Brady Makes Room For Them, 20, St. Francis, has pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact.

The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, the charge relates to the July 12 abusive sexual contact of a woman in Todd County. Makes Room For Them was detained pending sentencing Sept. 19.

n Paul Kauer, 19, Rapid City, has pleaded guilty to perjury. According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Kauer was under oath during a court hearing Nov. 10, when he made a material statement he did not believe was true. The maximum penalty is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

n Sarah L. Diver, 24, Little Eagle, has pleaded guilty to an indictment charging her with failure to appear in connection with her failure to report to the Women's Penitentiary or the U.S. Marshal's Service on Oct. 26 to begin serving a sentence for involuntary manslaughter. The maximum penalty for the failure to appear charge is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Diver was detained pending sentencing.

n Nathan Chasing Horse, also known as Nathan Chasing His Horse, 29, South El Monte, Calif., was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Karen Schreier to two years probation for failure to pay legal child support obligations.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Chasing Horse failed to pay child support between February 2003 and March 2005 as ordered by the 7th Judicial Circuit Court in Rapid City. Chasing Horse pleaded guilty.

n Bradie Paschall, 32, Rapid City, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, in connection with incidents between March 2004 and May 2005 when Paschall allegedly conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine. The maximum penalty upon conviction is life in prison and a $4 million fine. No trial date has been set.

n Geraldine Williams, no age listed, Wanblee, has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, the conspiracy charge is related to incidents between November 2001 and April 2004 when Williams allegedly conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine.

The possession charge stems from an incident involving methamphetamine in the spring of 2004. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine. No trial date has been set.

n Jason Kimmel, 23, Rosebud, has pleaded not guilty to a two-count indictment charging him with sexual abuse and sexual abuse of a minor.

The charges relate to the alleged sexual abuse of a minor from Rosebud. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Kimmel was detained pending trial.

n Jody Dean Bad Warrior, 31, Eagle Butte, has pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging him with sexual abuse.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, the charge relates to the alleged sexual abuse of a woman who was physically incapable of declining participation in and communicating unwillingness to engage in the sexual act.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Bad Warrior was released on bond pending trial.

n Arvin Brave Bird, 36, Rosebud, has pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging him with assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

The charge relates to the alleged assault of a Rosebud woman, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Brave Bird was detained pending trial.
