A 12-year-old Sturgis boy died Wednesday from an apparent asthma attack, the Butte County Sheriff's Office said.
No foul play is suspected in the death of Jaden Paklin, according to a release from the sheriff's office. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death, but authorities suspect it may have been allergy- or asthma-related.
According to the release, Jaden was at his grandparents' farm east of Vale in southeast Butte County when dispatch received a call at around 7:53 p.m. about an emergency at the farm. The Vale Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene at 8:11 p.m., and the Newell Ambulance Service arrived at 8:17 p.m.
Jaden was taken to Sturgis Regional Hospital, and the sheriff's office was notified at 9:20 p.m. that he had died.
