RAPID CITY - Adam Klynsma, who founded the South Side Pokemon League in June, will host a trading card tournament on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Rapid City Public Library.
Early-bird registration begins at 9:30 a.m. for the all-day event.
Trading card games are elaborate contests using specialized decks of cards. Players are mostly young. In fact, the senior division is open to players born between 1992 and 1995. The junior division is open to those born 1996 or later. The master's division is for players born in 1991 or earlier.
Saturday's tournament is sponsored by Pokemon Organized Play, the tournament system affiliated with Pokemon USA, which publishes the Pokemon trading cards in the United States. Klynsma said prizes will be offered, and winners could be eligible for scholarships.
