A man attending Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City had his SUV stolen Saturday morning.

According to a release from the Rapid City Police, a man who had attended the 8 a.m. Mass at the cathedral, 520 Cathedral Drive, returned to the parking lot to discover his Honda CR-V was missing.

At about 12:45 p.m. Sunday, police spotted the SUV when it did not stop at a stop sign at Creek Drive and East U.S. Highway 44. The officer tried to stop the SUV, but it continued west on Highway 44, turned north onto Fifth Street, then east onto Adams Avenue.

The officer lost sight of the SUV in the area of Van Buren Street and Halley Avenue, but police later found it abandoned in the 700 block of Blaine Avenue and returned it to the owner.
