House Bill 1237

This bill would tweak the state's 72-hour waiting period for any woman wanting to have an abortion and could make the waiting period twice as long. The bill says that no Saturday, Sunday or state or federal holiday be counted towards the 72-hour waiting period. The language could double the waiting period if, for instance, a woman first consulted a doctor about an abortion on a Friday at 9 a.m. and planned to have the procedure on Monday at 9 a.m. If weekend days and a Monday holiday did not count, she might have to wait until the following Thursday.
