Rapid City Regional Airport announced Tuesday the addition of an American Eagle Airlines flight to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport this summer.
From June 9 to Aug. 22, American Eagle will offer two nonstop flights per day to Dallas Forth Worth. The flights will arrive daily at 11:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. and depart Rapid City at 12:25 p.m. and 4:25 p.m.
"In terms of tourism, this is great news for the Black Hills," said Cameron Humphres, airport executive director at Rapid City Regional Airport. "Because of the huge number of connecting American Airline flights at Dallas/Fort Worth, more travelers will have a convenient one-day flight to Rapid City from just about anywhere in North America."
In addition, American Eagle will resume daily seasonal service to the American Airlines hub at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Flights to Chicago will arrive at Rapid City at 10:45 a.m. daily and depart for Chicago at 11:25 a.m.
On both the Dallas and Chicago routes, American Eagle will operate 50-passenger Embraer ERJ-145 jets.
American Eagle began service to Rapid City from Dallas and Chicago in April 2010. The new carrier helped Rapid City Regional Airport set a traffic passenger record, 591,000 passengers, in 2010.
