NEWCASTLE, WYO. | Wyatt J. Pillen, 15, was born Sept. 17, 1998, in Newcastle, the son of Rick and Susan (Lewis) Pillen. He was raised in Newcastle and was a freshman at Newcastle High School. He died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Denver Children’s Hospital in Aurora, CO, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Nov. 17, near Newcastle. His dream was to be a rancher and fireman following graduation.
Currently he was a member of Explorer’s Post 66 of Newcastle, 4-H Program, FFA, the High School Rodeo Club and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed shooting sports, youth wrestling, Little Britches Rodeo, basketball, baseball, football, rodeo, Training for Explorers, dancing, ranch work and being with family and friends.

He is survived by his parents; best friend and brother Nathaniel Pillen of Newcastle; and sisters, Crystal Stevens-Benson of Glenrock, WY, Rickay Pillen of Gillette, and Tabitha Pillen of Newcastle. Also surviving are nieces Ayla Stevens, McCall Benson and Paetyn Sylte; nephews Parker Stevens, Roman Williams, Grandmothers Virginia Pillen and Jeannie Lewis both of Newcastle; great-grandmother Pearl Tavegia of Osage, WY; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers James L. Lewis and Nathan Pillen.
Visitation was Nov. 22, at Worden Chapel and services were Nov. 24, at Crouch Auditorium followed by burial at Boyd Cemetery near Four Corners. The family has established the Wyatt Pillen Memorial and contributions may be mailed to PO Box 700, Newcastle, WY 82701.
