RAPID CITY | Maylen Walter Buetow, 86, left to be with our Lord on May 31, 2018. He stayed as long as he could after his wife of 54 years passed. God knew how he missed her, so He called him home to be with her.
Maylen was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Jamestown, N.D. He attended school in Sydney and Windsor, N.D.
He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1951 and served in the Korean War.
He married the love of his life, Joyce, in 1961. They were blessed with three children.

He is survived by his children, Penny (Donnie) Moore of Rapid City; Wade Buetow of Yankton; and John (Lisa) Buetow of Rapid City; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Verlyn Benson; and many nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Lydia Buetow; two brothers; one sister; and his wife, Joyce Buetow.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with services starting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, at Kirk Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. An online guestbook may be signed at kirkfuneralhome.com.
