RAPID CITY | Bernadine B. Zeigler, 96, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at the Rapid City Regional Hospice House.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1922, in Grand Junction, CO, to William and Priscilla (Jenkins) Broderson. Bernadine grew up on the family farm in Grand Junction, surrounded by corn fields and orchards, graduating from Fruitvale High School, then on to college.
She married Cecil Zeigler in Grand Junction in 1948.
Bernadine was the postmistress in Anchorage for many years. She retired in 1988 after 30 years with the United States Postal Service and they returned to Grand Junction.
Bernadine was a master with needle and thread making clothes for her boys and enjoyed cooking, well known for her German Dumplings.
She was a very giving person and the backbone of the family.
Since her husband Cecil’s death, especially these last ten years, were very special to her son, Zach.
She is survived by her son; Zachary Zeigler, Rapid City; grandchildren, Zachary Zeigler, VA, Tyler, Brendon and Bernadine Zeigler, all of Rapid City, Debi Kim Goslic, CA, Danny Zeigler, CO, Cory Zeigler, CA, Myles Zeigler, WA and Cherish Gaines, AZ; great-grandchildren, Elynore Jane, Rapid City, and Seth David, Boston.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil, in 2001; her son, David; daughter, Apryle; and two brothers, William and Warren.
Bernadine has gone Home!
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a future date.
