Rodney Michael submitted this sequence of images of Comet 46P/Wirtanen obtained during the evening of Dec. 14. The comet was barely visible (just a smudge) with binoculars over Rapid City on Friday evening. It's moving to the NNE quite rapidly and was about 10 or 15 degrees South of the Pleiades when these images were obtained.
The image shows 46P at approximately 12-minute intervals for just about 75 minutes.
For your consideration.
