Pactola Reservoir, Deerfield Reservoir and Sheridan Lake will remain open this weekend though some sites near the water may be impacted by high water, according to a release from the U.S. National Forest Service.

High water levels have created a difficult launching situation at Pactola Reservoir, where the south launch is closed due to flooding over the parking area. The north boat launch remains open but the dock has been pulled out of the water.

Boaters at all three National Forest reservoirs should be prepared for high water conditions and use caution on submerged dock gangways and ramps.

"The parking lot at Pactola south boat ramp is being covered by water as the reservoir rises into the flood pool," according to Amy Ballard, recreation forester. "The south ramp is closed for public safety and will remain closed until the water recedes entirely off the parking lot."

Ballard recommends only high clearance vehicles attempt to launch boats at Pactola Reservoir’s north boat ramp.

Water hazards exist such as rocks just beneath the surface, floating logs, branches and other debris pulled off the shoreline by the high water. The public is urged to use caution when launching and using the reservoirs, the release stated.
