The Canyon lake Little League Select 10U baseball team won the Rapid City Age Tournament over the weekend. The Canyon Lake Select 10U team went 3-0 and won the Rapid City Age Tournament 10U Select Bracket this past weekend, defeating the Harney Select 10U team 5-4.

Canyon Lake was led by a strong pitching performance from Reagan Koskan and Riley Scott with a solid defense by the rest of the team. Lars Kieffer led the team with two hits and Wyatt Reeder let the team with two RBI.

Canyon Lake will travel to Brandon Valley this weekend to play in the Marlin’s Family Restaurants Tournament.

Alliance sweeps Spearfish Post 164

The Alliance, Nebraska Post 7 Spartans took a pair of American Legion baseball games from Spearfish Post 164 Wednesday in Alliance, 6-2 and 7-4.

In the opener, Spearfish scored as run tom open the game in the top of the first, but Alliance was in control the rest of the way. Cody Garness had two hits for Spearfish.

The second game was tied at 3-3 after Post 164 scored twice in the top of the fourth, but Alliance answered with one run in the bottom of the inning and three more in the fifth.

Taylor Janovy had three hits for Spearfish, while Taylor Woods drove in two runs.

Spearfish, 14-16, will be at Sturgis tonight at 7 p.m. at Strong Field.

Pioneers rally past Sasquatch

Western Nebraska scored the game's final three runs to stop the Spearfish Sasquatch 7-5 Wednesday night in Expedition League baseball action at Black Hills Energy Stadium in Spearfish.

Spearfish led 5-4 after six innings before the Pioneers scored twice in the seventh and once more in the ninth.

Will Olson led the way for Western Nebraska, 28-11, with four hits, including a home run and two RBI. Jack Pauley also hit a solo home run for the Pioneers.

Hayden Hastings led the Sasquatch, 16-21, with a pair of hits and two RBI, while Jack Mattson had two hits and one run knocked in.

Luke DeGrammont started the game on the mound for Spearfish, giving up eight hits and four runs in six innings.  Jackson Arnsdorf took the loss, giving up two runs on two hits in one inning. Brandon Soucy pitched two innings, giving up one unearned run and three hits.

The two teams will meet again tonight at 6:35 p.m.
