The bats were hot for both sides Monday night in Aberdeen, but the Hub City Hotshots were hotter than the Spearfish Sasquatch, as Hub City got the 19-10 win.
Spearfish ends its nine game road-trip with a 3-6 record.
The Sasquatch scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Hotshots responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Spearfish clawed back with a run in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a 9-5 lead, before Hub City responded again.
It scored four runs to tie the score in the bottom of the fifth, five runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh to take a 19-9 lead.
Spearfish scored a run in the ninth, but it was too late.
Former Rapid City Post 22 Hardhat Riley McSherry got the start and went five innings, gave up eight hits, nine earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
Sean Keating came in for relief, lasting one inning and giving up seven hits, 10 runs with nine earned, he struck out two and walked two.
Drake Berman and Jackson Fuller were able to steady the ship, going a combined two innings, giving up two hits, walking two, giving up no runs and Fuller struck out two.
Anthony Rodriguez and Aaron Funk homered for Spearfish, while Hunter Koep Anthony Guzman homered for Hub City.
Rodriguez drove in four runs and Funk drove in two. Zach Solano and Carter Thompson drove in one run apeice for Spearfish.
Koep recorded eight RBI for Hub City, Jacob Jacome and Ryan Kawano drove in three while Derek Marshall and Guzman drove in two each.
Spearfish is now 8-8 and 2 1/2 games behind Clark Division leader Western Nebraska. The Sasquatch will be home for the first time in a week and a half as it takes on Hub City, who improved to 6-11 with the win.
BHSU women in second after one round at CNRF
The Black Hills State women's rodeo team stands in second place after the first go at the College National Rodeo Final in Casper, Wyoming.
The Yellow Jackets have recorded 165 points and sit behind Gillette College who has 205 points. Utah Valley is third at 150, Colorado State-Pueblo sits in fourth at 80 and is tied with the University of Montana-Western.
Carlee Johnson has led the charge for BHSU, who sits in second for the women's all-around with 100 behind Gillette College's Rickie Engesser who has 125.
